Active Valve Control System

Much like variable valve timing can improve efficiency, so can turbochargers. The application of turbochargers may have started with the desire for faster vehicles, but it has an extra benefit. By using a turbocharger, Subaru can use a smaller engine with less horsepower without creating a vehicle that feels sluggish. Small turbos provide the power you need to merge onto highways or pass another car but don’t drink fuel when you’re just driving normally. A great example is the WRX equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. With 271 horsepower, you might expect this car to be expensive at the pump but the premium sedan still achieves 26 mpg on the highway.
Electric Performance
